the amy diary was written in 1993 when I was 11 years old and in Grade 5 in Chatham Ontario and attending McNaughton Ave. Each day was given a letter grade based on how good or bad that day was. I scanned all pages in their entirety and left unedited. Also featured in The Globe & Mail, August 24, 2009.

ReplyDeleteLuv it! Makes me want to call up my mom to see if any of my diary notebooks are still lingering around. I'm curious though about what happened with all the boys?! Especially the hotties Jamie and Joey!

ReplyDeletebecause i find the psychology of personal diary writing very interesting. versus now, everyone writes for an audience and nothing is personal. that's what people don't seem to understand; that this was written without the intent of anyone ever seeing it and so it is written with complete unrestricted honesty and that just doesn't happen anymore. now, we live and write as if the world is watching and private diary culture is a thing of the past. i think a lot of girls my age (late 20s+) can relate to a time when we allowed ourselves to think and express ourselves so freely, as if no one is paying attention.....
